Each year, millions of dollars donated by Democratic supporters never reach candidates or voter education and outreach. Instead, they disappear into the pockets of consultants and political operators. While legitimate political action committees (PACs) fund campaigns, run ads, and educate and mobilize voters, scam PACs exist largely to enrich the consultants who control them.
Scambusters are volunteers who help donors regain control of their wallets. We investigate self-dealing PACs by analyzing their expenditures, interviewing their operators, contacting donors and offering information and education to Democratic donors who wish to use their resources efficiently to win elections and build sustainable Democratic infrastructure.
